PATIENT FAQ

Can I still work and/or attend school while in treatment?

  The Intensive Outpatient Program meets at night, so work or school doesn't have to be missed. If here is a scheduling conflict, your counselor will work closely with you to accommodate your schedule as much as possible.  

Are the staff members who will be treating me in recovery?

 Our counselors are in recovery and have long-term sobriety. They bring experience,  strength and understanding, because of their own experiences with addiction and maintaining sobriety.  

Can I continue to work Offshore/Inshore or 24 Hr call while in treatment?

Yes! We understand the culture, Industry and employment issues  of working in the oilfield or related fields in South Louisiana. It doesn't matter if you work 7 & 7, 14 & 14, 28 & 14, etc.  We understand that working 8 to 5 is not feasible for majority of careers here. We will work closely with you to developed a structured treatment schedule to meet your needs while continuing to work.  


Do you take insurance?

New Start Recovery most private and medicaid insurance. Call us to find out if New Start Recovery is covered by your insurance provider. 

Do you accept patients on probation, PTI or currently involved in court?

Yes, we have a long standing history of helping patients for-fill their probation or court mandated treatment requirements.  Our staff will maintain contact with attorneys, probation officers (parish or state) and judges to better help you to stay sober and successfully for-fill requirements. 

Do you provide other treatment services?

 Yes, we provide individual therapy, family and couples therapy , alcohol and drug abuse education programs, relapse prevention program, full assessments/evaluations, Adolescent  alcohol and drug abuse therapy program, family support education/support group, drug and alcohol drug testings, and aftercare services. All services determined based on patient needs,medical level of care, patient input and willingness, and clinical recommendations.  

How long does the treatment program last?

 The intensive outpatient program meets 3 nights a week. The program is 8-12 weeks based on the individuals treatment needs.

Is my family involved in my treatment?

 Yes,  Family support is a crucial component of treatment.  In treatment, we are going through change and learning how to live free without chemicals. Having a  family for support helps us feel we are not alone and allowing others to hold us up when we struggle.

Is New Start Recovery Licensed?

New Start Recovery is fully licensed with the state of Louisiana  Department of Health and Hospital.

Will help us find support after discharge?

Before you are discharged, you will meet with your counselor to develop post-discharge plans. We provide an aftercare program ; which enables you to stay close to the program and work on the next step of your recovery. We also will help to setup referrals for a therapist, doctors or mental health care if needed. Your family is also involved in post-discharge planning so they can understand and know those plans. Each patient completes a personal aftercare/continuing care plan prior to completion
